Andrew Walker’s Debut Picture Book ‘A Dog on a Log with His Friend Mr. Frog’ Hops Over to Tiny Tree

‘A DOG ON A LOG WITH HIS FRIEND MR. FROG’ IS PUBLISHING IN EARLY 2025

A CHARMING AND FUNNY STORY ABOUT FRIENDSHIP AND FORGIVENESS

DEBUT PICTURE BOOK FROM BAFTA AWARD-WINNING VIDEO GAME DEVELOPER

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tiny Tree Books is pleased to announce the acquisition of the charming and wise debut children’s picture book from BAFTA Award winner Andrew Walker. ‘A Dog on a Log with His Friend Mr. Frog’ is a heartwarming story teaching children the importance of friendship, forgiveness, and second chances.

A BAFTA award-winning video game developer, Walker has turned his attention to books. Illustrated by duo James Parkin & Kantarat Ulhaka, ‘A Dog on a Log with His Friend Mr. Frog was acquired by Tiny Tree Books publisher James Shaw following a round of open submissions.

‘A Dog on a Log with His Friend Mr. Frog’ is set to be published in early 2025.

“I was inspired to write the book by the countless nights spent inventing silly stories with my children,” says Andrew Walker. “I hope that readers, especially dads, will return with cherished memories of their children’s smiles. Those moments are priceless, and this book is a tool to help foster those smiles.”

“The silly and simple ‘dad humour’ that Andrew talks about really shone through when I first read this,” says publisher James Shaw. “As a dad myself, I could see just how this book would land with my own kids and those like them. I’m thrilled that we get to share Andrew’s work”.

About ‘A Dog on a Log and His Friend Mr. Frog’

Scruffy the dog lives on a log in a smelly old bog with his best friend, Mr. Frog. But Scruffy’s lazy lifestyle and love for sausages, baked beans, and Spam is driving Mr. Frog to his wits’ end. After Scruffy goes too far one night, leading to the biggest mess ever, Mr Frog has finally had enough and leaves Scruffy to reflect on the value of friendship.

Now Scruffy must learn to clean up his act and make amends before Mr. Frog returns to their beloved bog.

‘A Dog on a Log with His Friend Mr. Frog’ is a heartwarming story that teaches readers the importance of kindness, compassion, and giving people second chances — especially our friends.

A story inspired, in part, by silly stories and ‘dad jokes’, Andrew hopes ‘A Dog on a Log with His Friend Mr. Frog’ will inspire his fellow fathers as well. “I wanted to share my crazy imagination with other dads, hoping to inspire them to craft funny stories. While it may just be a story, it’s infused with plenty of dad humour and some important messages.”

Andrew continues: Working with Tiny Tree has been an incredible experience. They have guided me through the entire process, affirming the value of my story and providing constant encouragement. Their creative support has been invaluable in crafting the final product. I am deeply grateful to Tiny Tree for believing in me and my book. It’s an honour to be published by them.”

Andrew Walker’s picture book is the latest in a long line of debut acquisitions from Tiny Tree. Tiny Tree publisher James Shaw adds: “We have always firmly believed in elevating new talent and with authors like Emily Wensley, Kathy Sherman, and now Andrew Walker we are pleased to continue to do that. It’s so exciting to be able to showcase new talent”.

‘A Dog on a Log with His Friend Mr. Frog’ is due to be released in early 2025.
