Michelle Hird is a children’s book author and illustrator, originally from Rainhill. Her debut title, Binx the Jinx, was released in 2017, introducing readers to her mischievous yet lovable character, Binx.

She followed this with Binx Lost in France in 2019, and in 2025
relaunched the latter with fresh illustrations and a more traditional hand-drawn style – marking a new chapter for her much-loved series.

Now living and working in London with her husband and little girl, Michelle draws inspiration from travel, culture, and the everyday adventures of family life. Since becoming a mum, her work has taken on an even warmer, more whimsical tone; a reflection of her desire to create meaningful, magical stories that children and parents can share together. When she’s not writing or illustrating, you can often find her exploring independent bookshops, sketching in her favourite cafés, or planning her next creative project.
