The Legend of Old Captain Sue
by Ian Cartwright
ISBN: 9781837914807
This is a story, and it’s definitely true, of a bad greedy pirate called Old Captain Sue. With an old wooden leg and a hook for a hand, she’d pretty much failed at all that she planned. But one last adventure before she’s too old, there was a rumour abound of some far away gold.
A silly, swashbuckling, adventure with gorgeously grotesque illustrations.

About The Author
Ian grew up and lives in Hednesford near Cannock Chase. He always loved drawing from an early age. His favourite artist growing up was Toulouse-Lautrec. He loves his Parisian nightlife graphic posters.
Ian studied art at school, Walsall college and then finally Blackpool and the Fylde College (Lancaster University). BA (hons) in Scientific and Natural History Illustration. He produced work for Kew Gardens and Orchid Conservation International during that time. After University, Ian worked as a Graphic designer for several different companies and produced freelance illustration work for greeting cards and other small independent companies.
For the past 12 years Ian has worked as a tattoo artist working in various different styles of tattooing.
Children’s book illustration is something that has interested Ian since he was at university and he has sketchbooks full of ideas since that time. During the pandemic Ian found himself unable to work, so took advantage of the free time to finally bring a couple of his ideas to life. Because illustration and art in general is his passion, the pictures always come first for him. So probably working back to front compared to others. If he produces a doodle or sketch that he likes then the story usually stems from that.
